Sorauren: Assault on the "Spanish Hill" - Prior to the main battle on the following day, Soult needed to discover the exact ground which the Allied armies intended to fight on. While Foy made a demonstration on the extreme French left flank to determine the end of the British line at Huarte, another - and bloodier - probe was made against the Spanish-held hill overlooking Zabaldica. NB: The Spanish formed units start disrupted to give the outnumbered French a better chance of securing the objectives.
