Tarragona: Assault on the lower town 21 June 1811 - After the capture of Fort Olivio, the French bombarded Fort Francoli and the lower town bastions of St Carlos and Orleans. Believing it no longer tenable, the Spanish abandoned Fort Francoli on 7 June, allowing the French to advance and construct a second parallel. Despite several sorties to disrupt the besiegers' progress, the French stormed the Prince's lunette on 16 June, preparing the way for an assault on the lower town on 21 June.
