13 October, 1939: Doenitz conceived of a daring plan to strike at the heart of the Admiralty. KrvKpt Guenther Prien was selected to lead a daring raid into British Naval Base at Scapa Flow. Difficulties with his periscope meant that the raid would be carried out on the surface. Believing he had found the Royal Oak and Repulse, he loosed a salvo and watched the hits register on Royal Oak. Circling around he made a second attack on the Repulse. In fact, "Repulse' was actually the seaplane transport Pegasus. Admiralty announced on 14 October that Royal Oak had been sunk with heavy loss of life. Berlin believed, based on Prien's report that they had also heavily damaged the battleship Repulse. Regardless, it was in fact a major propaganda coup for the Germans.//This scenario is designed to be played from the German side only.//The overlay 'Scapa Flow' may be used with this scenario. It will, however, make the scenario even easier to play.
