17 August, 1942: Kptlt Heiler in U-653 of Goup Bluecher spotted SL-118. The boats of the wolfpack converged, despite the best efforts of the escorts. U-333, after being severely depth charged was forced to abort. Another boat, U-566, captained by Kptlt Remus, worked its way to the front and submerged to attack.
