12 August, 1914
Shabatz, 40 miles west of Belgrade on the River Save. (Best played
against a human opponent, or as Austrian versus a Serbian AI).
This is the first of a series of scenarios recreating the battles
around Shabatz during the first Austrian invasion of Serbia in
August 1914. Following the Austro Hungarian declaration of war
on Serbia, the Serbian army hurriedly prepared to defend their
homeland against invasion. Sensibly, given the long frontier
with their enemy, the Serbs decided to hold their main army back
and only lightly defend the border. That border in the north
was bounded by the River Save. At the town of Shabatz the river
was fordable in many places, and so the Austrians decided that
they would cross there in force. On 12th August 1914 advance
elements of the Austrian IV Korps descended upon the river, determined
to force a crossing. This is the first in a series of scenarios
depicting the action around the town of Shabatz during the first
Austro Hungarian Invasion of Serbia.Version 1.1, adjusted victory
conditions based on testing.

Austria-Hungary overwhelm the Serbs' meager defenses.
Resolve then, that on this very ground, with small flags waving and tinny blasts on tiny trumpets, we shall meet the enemy, and not only may he be ours, he may be us. --Walt Kelly
