Epehy, 20 Kms SW Cambrai, France. After months of careful preparation
and training, Operation Michael (Kaiserschlacht) was launched
on March, 21, 1918. Thirty-two German divisions attacked on a
40 mile front, supported by thousands of artillery and mortars.
The villages of Epehy and Peizière had been captured by the British
during their advance to the Hindenburg Line in 1917. They were
an important strategic defensive location, lying near the junction
between the British Third and Fifth Armies. Two Germans divisions:
79th and 183rd are pitted against forward elements of 21st British
Division with the 62nd and 110th Infantry Brigades. The 49th
Brigade of the Irish 16th Infantry Division support the southern
area of Epehy. Can the British defenders hold back the German
assault?. Thanks to Chris Mee for help in the scn background.
(Edited to be a Dawn attack, around turn 10 daylight should arrive)

The forces may be about even at the start, but the entrenchments favor the British.

Great map, but while probably historically accurate, this scenario is unplayable in terms of PBEM balance, with grossly undervalued objectives considering the importance the Germans placed on the battle and the difficulty of the task. Add to that, one hex visibility makes approaching trench lines impossible without first having to withstand Brit op-fire. Additionally, the game itself makes artillery fire so random it's best to just not use it at all, forget walking barrages or trying to soften enemy positions.
Resolve then, that on this very ground, with small flags waving and tinny blasts on tiny trumpets, we shall meet the enemy, and not only may he be ours, he may be us. --Walt Kelly
