RE: KönigsTiger 213 in La Gleize [B] - Wacht am Rhein - Peipers's Trail - Koen - 05-30-2008 just booked a night at the Radisson hotel at Spa...at 20 km's of most of the locations.... LINK Wacht am Rhein - Koen - 06-10-2008 Building the WaR map and collecting info on the forces who were involved. Keeping in mind that the scenario needs to remain playable I still want to use the correct forces in lower %'s. I'm not going to much in detail on the facts but I do want to use the correct types and names of units and commanders. The map will have the following towns/villages on it: Noth: Malmedy-Stoumont-La Gleize-Stavelot-Ligneuville Central: Baraque Fraiture-Vielsalm-Sankt Vith Houffalize South: Bastogne-Wiltz-Vianden Who was where? f.e.: for Stavelot I've got "291st Engineer Battalion" 'Cpt Sheetz' Stoumont+La Gleize: German: 1 Bn PzIV+Pz V from 1st SS Pz Reg 2nd SS Pz Gren Reg Flak Bn 1 Bn Pz VIB 1 Company from 3rd Parachute division American: 2nd [Lienne Creek] and 3rd Bn [Stoumont] of 119th Inf with 400th Arm Arty Bn 1st Bn of 117th Inf attacking KG Peipers lifeline 1st Bn of 119th Inf with 740th Tank Bn [from the West] 1 regimental cannon company 197th Field Art Bn so, any type of info is welcome...making it more realistic and correct will make this one better for all of us... oh...some good 44-45 pictures/maps of these towns are also very handy ;) Koen  RE: KönigsTiger 213 in La Gleize [B] - Wacht am Rhein - Peipers's Trail - Sphinx - 06-11-2008 Howdy, The best book I have seen is "The Battle of the Bulge, Then and Now." I have it at home, and if interested can give you the author (I think it is Jean Paul Pallud), and publisher - it is one of the "then and now" books which I have found to be very good. Basically, he went over the battlefield trying to identify the locations of many pictures. It is now around 20 years old, so I don't know how accurate it would be. Very nice you live so close. I have to make do with the wild west in the US. Cheers, Sphinx RE: KönigsTiger 213 in La Gleize [B] - Wacht am Rhein - Peipers's Trail - Koen - 06-16-2008 So, went on a 2 day Ardennes trip and scored 482 pictures and that's with bad weather! Panzers Tanks Half-tracks Cemetaries Memorials and more and I haven't even been to Houffalize or Bastogne... |
