Just make sure you send an escort with them mate, or as soon as they get clear of your troops they'll 'escape' (ie revert back to enemy control)
That's not quite as bad as it sounds because they won't have any weapons, their datastrip will no longer read 'Captured', it'll read 'Unarmed'.
The enemy player will then hide them safely away for the rest of the game so you won't get points of any sort for them unless you send out a squad to get close enough to them to 'recapture' them.

Incidentally I remember reading a post by somebody in a CM forum a while ago, he said that if you've captured enemy troops, keep them near your men as 'human shields' because the program won't allow the enemy player to call in arty barrages near the prisoners for fear of hitting them.
I've never tested it out myself so I can't confirm whether it's true or not.

Now that's interesting. I didn't know POWs needed an escort; I thought they wouldn't revert unless they had friendlies nearby. I guess I rarely capture units anyway, and it's usually very near the end of the game most times. So I don't much recall having POWs revert. Except the recent game where my captured unit came back after I eliminated the capturing unit.

Don't know about CMBB or CMAK, but you definately don't need escorts in CMBO and the AI also lets you target on both onboard and offboard arty on top of them if you so wish. You can even area fire troops with a clear line of sight to them.

I'm not sure they do need an escort I think their owner needs to rescue them with troops of his own, which wont happen if they have an escort.

They also trigger the contact in move to contact which can be annoying.

Anybody knows the answer ?

In a recent CMAK game I played, my opponent "moved" a unit of mine which he captured to the rear, but directly into the area which he area fired with a Priest. The Priest didn't stop firing but the captured unit did stop moving: KIA. Did lose my opponent some points (was only a LMG unit).

To my experience captured units don't need an escort.
