Indeed, all recollections of Patton indicate he was in fact extremely profane, in a way that might be called mild these days due to the evolution of the language and its usage. I tend to find the "dumb bastard..." bit to be the funniest. It is amazing how incomprehensibly vain he was, really amazing.
I think that anyone who could comfortably strap two shiny pistols to their hips in a rear area and still take themselves seriously would maybe just perhaps have a little problem with their own ego.

Great men, always seem to have their flaws. History judges them on their actions but sometimes makes allowances for what may be considered human failings as long as they get the job done.
