Ok Ed... I'll bite :cool2: Reference to that classic Wizard of Oz movie starting (at the time) an unknown kid named Judy Garland who had an incredible singing voice... or "someth'in" else? :chin:

BTW... "Over the Rainbow" was nearly cut from the final film! :eek1:

Remember that Shirley Temple was almost picked to be the lead?
Along with Buddy Ebson to be the Tin Man. :chin:

A lot of "what ifs" in that movie. A true historic classic. They could not make it again in these days.

My favorites are the songs, like this one:

Sadly enough, it's only a matter of time before someone tries. :(

Anther OZ movie? If I'm not mistaken it was with black actors?
"THE WIZ" (Dianna Ross) and (Micheal Jackson)

The muppets also were in a take-off of the Wizard of OZ

Your right though, sadly remakes never meet up to the classic.

The Wiz was a musical (and an adaptation of the Broadway musical), so it at least had the distinction of being in a different format.

Interestingly, the Judy Garland version was not the first movie version of the book, and Wikipedia lists any number of former and future adaptations. Including:

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is a 2011 CGI film to be directed by John Boorman.

D'oh, I hate being right sometimes.
