I have Ironfront Liberation 1944 too. Fun game to mess around with, but it's really a "First Person Shooter" game and playing it on a server with lots of other people live. The AI sucks! It's basically a paid for
ARMA 2 mod. It's been ported to ARMA 2/3 for free if you own it already.

Now if you want a great game, then try "Graviteam Tactics: Operation Star". There is no PBEM or MP,
but it's good! UI is a challenge, but every UI after CM1 is hard to me

Muchacho, I can't stand first person shooters, so you can trust me when I say Ironfront can also be played at the High Command level where you're an eye in the sky issuing orders to whole platoons at a time like "Go here, go there, kill, don't kill", great fun!

For example that's my T-34 down there in High Command view, it can be moved in this view by pressing the movement keys. (and if there are several other tanks in your platoon they'll automatically follow you in formation if yours is the command tank)



You can exit High Command view anytime and drop down to this 3rd-person view..



and even hop into the gunner's seat in 1st-person view like this to take over from him. The option is there for people who like 1st-person, but nobody has to use it if they don't want.

From the second video it appears that IF is basically like Panzer Elite?

I've never had Panzer Elite but don't think I'll get it because from what I see in youtube vids the graphics are not so hot.

Unfortunately I only like playing mostly against human opponents and it's a difficult habit to break..;)-

You also mentioned Achtung:Panzer, I had that a couple of years ago but sadly that had no pbem or MP options either (sniffle)
At the moment the only games I play are Ironfront, Armed Assault 2 and CM Red Thunder.
I own CM Black Sea but don't play it regularly at the moment because BFront still need to patch some bugs, glitches and gameplay issues.

It is one of the first tank shooters, but it has also been modded to hell to improve the graphics. I have steel beasts too, played it twice and shelved it, waste of $50.
