Yes, but in 1980 the T-80 was only deployed in the Independant Tank battalions of the Motorized Rifle Divisions in GSFG. If even that.
Most tanks were probably T-64A with some units retaining T-62. Not sure on the deployment of T-64B. Probobly in the Tank Regiments once the ITBs got T-80. The Czech deployed Soviet units had T-72s at this time.
As for the M-1s in 1980... there were no M-1s in 1980. They were XM-1s as the tank was still experimental in 1980. I was a driver in the first XM-1 Battalion in the Army. 2nd BN 5th Cavalry of the 1st Cavalry Division in 1980. It was our job to break them.....in
