Armor Main Gun Ammo Load Question

During a current game turn, I select one of my tanks and under Select Weapon Load, I select to use HE ammo, and fire the main gun during that turn. If during the following turn (the enemy's turn), enemy armor comes into view of my tank, will my tank fire at the enemy tank using HE ammo or will it automatically switch to AP ammo?
