The airpower in particular and the UN firepower in general were devastating, the problem was to bring that to bear successfully to make the most of it which the Chinese in particular were denying with their camouflage skills and the custom to redeploy at night. The battle at Wonju in Feb '51 was won by the skin o' their teeth as a spotter plane saw the two out of the four divisions making for their assembly point before the final main Chinese effort and they were caught in the open and interdicted by a few dozens of medium and heavy guns from X Corps which resulted in some 5 thousand Chinese dead only, the wounded and incapacitated a fair greater deal.

I did and am still doing strategic bombing of the North and only rivers parallel to roads should not be blown according to a well known rule of thumb.
