Your approach might yield better results than mine. I probably tried to stand and fight too much for my own good. On the other hand, at this point in the scenario (turn 38), the Soviets have only advanced 20-30 hexes, and Budapest is still a long way away.

One lesson that I think the PanzerCrack (my affectionate nickname) series does a nice job of reinforcing is that warfare is rarely fair. The downside is that it can be tough to find a good balanced scenario for PBEM purposes.
