Kampfgruppe vs Gefehtsgruppe?
Gentlemen,

Can anyone explain me the difference between those two? :conf:

I have found the term Gefehtsgruppe while reading about Panzerverband Ostpresussen (Panzerdivision Kempf) in Polish Campaign...

Thank you in advance cheers

Sure you're spelling it correctly?

"Gefahr" means alarm, or threat, or danger, things along those lines. "Gefahrgruppe" would make sense as "alarm force" or some such.

I made a mistake but by not putting "c" in" Gefechtsgruppe...

cheers

Makes sense, Gefecht means battle, skirmish, action, things along those lines. Practically synonymous with Kampf.

I know there is a subtle difference between "Gruppe" and "Kampfgruppe". "Gefechtsgruppe" I had not heard of before. sounds a bit more 'ad hoc' than "Kampfgruppe", but I'm just guessing now.

RE: Kampfgruppe vs Gefehtsgruppe?
I found one quotation about a Gefechtsgruppe commanded by an Lt.Col. CO of a Flak Rgt.. It took part in the fighting in the East with Army Group Mitte. Maybe something like an ad hoc unit. It was not a common expression. In WW I it was used a bit more often. The size of the Gefechtsgruppe seems to vary. One passage I found is about an Unteroffizier! (Sergeant) commanding a Gefechtsgruppe of a Cavalry Division.
