RE: CS and Windows 7 64-bit
I've been running on Vista 64-bit for some time, and as we all know, the unit viewer won't work, and there were some problems tweaking the system to play both Talonsoft and Matrix versions simultaneously, but once I got those sorted out it's been very smooth.
I've got W7 on my wife's computer and it seems to be relatively good comparison-wise. If the viewer can work under W7 I think I might upgrade. Just as an aside, I never install into the default directories, but that's just me. I also ****can all the "My this-and-that" that Windows comes preset up with.

PS - another aside - I used to work for HP (and Compaq) and was particularly impressed with the Compaq products (many lines of which were kept in the merger while HP units were phased out). A year ago I purchased a new HP desktop and had two hard drive failures in less than 6 months (after never my whole 30 years of computing ever had a problem) and this was most annoying and expensive too, as we had to have the last drive cracked and scavenged by hand. We are all hostages to our technology. A word to the WISE: Get a back up drive and use it religiously. The newer OSes and drive software seem predisposed to much more fatal hard to recover errors now. Not worth the risk. And the stupid *** HP tech support was worthless - they still have it in the system that I have a French version of Windows .... which I do not.
