Several years ago I had the good fortune of visiting Normandy with several members of the Blitz as part of a tour group. While we did visit several famous locations there was much more that I know that I would have liked to see. As such I am thinking of taking a trip sometime next year, probably around August or September. I would like to go with 1 or 2 other Blitz members who are also interested. I plan on renting a car so that we can travel around. Let me know if anyone maybe interested.
In principle, yes, although I would prefer October or November (probably cheaper). I have had a plan to next year spend a week or two in NW Europe -Verdun, and the Western Front battlefields further North in the Somme and Flanders areas.
I'm all kinds of jealous... My buddy sent me some pictures of his trip to Normandy and the Maginot Line while I was in Iraq. He just about had me convinced to head over this summer for a whirlwind European Vacation.
Doesn't look like OPTEMPO will let me lose any time soon though... I'll begin prepping for a return gig to Iraq in '08...
